SailGP has quietly tweaked one of its sailing instructions ahead of Portsmouth, swapping out season championship standings for previous regatta results when it comes to group seeding for split fleets. Groups will now be based on recent form rather than average form across an entire season. However, if you look at the expected Portsmouth groups under the new rule, it tells a familiar story. Spain, Australia and New Zealand all land in group A again. The death group is back, almost identical to Halifax (minus one swap of teams) and somehow, Great Britain have landed in the easier group B for their home event.
